I
feel truly blessed here to have really good fellowship with a group of other
young single workers who have committed their lives to serving in Central
Asia. These relationships are often
refreshing and energizing as we meet together nightly to pray for our different
friends and ministries.
Over the past few months, this group of singles has struggled with some deep heart break. One of our friends was really suffering from depression. Many of us had seen the signs but hoped that with love and support she would “pull out of it.” Instead of seeing improvement, we saw her turn to eating disorders, cutting and other means of hurting herself. While part of us wanted to stand with her, we also knew she was not in a healthy place to remain severing overseas, especially when we saw her depression affecting local believers. After much dialogue with her leadership (who had been unaware of how bad it was), the decision was made to encourage her to return to the United States to seek counseling. Please pray for this wounded soldier who is struggling so deeply after years of overseas service. Please pray for the rest of our singles group as we are all suffering from the guilt of abandoning her and weariness from all the strain of the last few months.
