Korban

The idea of a lamb dying in the place of a person is not a new story.  All of my YOU neighbors look back to the history of Abraham being willing to offer his son as the background for their major holiday, Korban.  This year, over the festival, my roommate and I visited all of our neighbors and former teachers, taking the opportunity to retell this story and two others that highlight times when a lamb died in the place of a person. It was fun to see the children get into the stories we told, especially the story of Moses, and the lamb’s blood spread on the door posts of the Israelites’ houses.  We ended our dramatic narrative with the most important story of substitutionary sacrifice.   This holiday season gave us the chance to lift up the name of Jesus and what he did in our place for our sins in the homes of YOU people we care about.   Thanks be to God for a Muslm holiday that makes them open to hearing the good news of Jesus.
