WORD in Action

I was still up in the capital city one Sunday morning and was able to join some of my friends in a rich time of fellowship.  We spent our time looking at the story of Paul and Barnabas visiting Iconium.  One line in the text rang over and over in my head “Unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.  SO they remained for a long time, speaking boldly”.  The problems they faced only caused them to be bolder and strive harder for the good news. It is encouraging.

Simultaneously that same Sunday morning, my local workmate and his friends were also meeting for similar purposes.  Their meeting got busted up by men in uniform.  My workmate was required to spend several hours in the office getting questioned about their behaviour.  A known risk in this place, but his response was just like that of Paul and Barnabas.  The next day he was once again squatted in the shade of our factory talking to the construction workers about the needs of their hearts, and singing them a hymn expressing the joy of his.  The pressure couldn’t stop him or shut his mouth, SO he kept sharing all the more.  He is a bold brother, a good workmate and a dear friend, please be remembering him and the others that were with him who might be being watched a little closer.
