EGBF Aug Update

I have noticed over the month that we have left several requests just hanging, and never really let you, as a reader of our newsletter, know what happened in the situation. Sometimes that is simply because we are still waiting. Back in September of last year when some of you first signed up to get our updates we sent out an urgent request asking that the paperwork would be processed quickly on our building permit so that we could start construction on our site. After months of hold up we are pleased to announce it seems to be moving forward and we should have our permission to build just in time for our building completion and inspection.

For months we worried over the fire proof paint that needs to be added to the main pillars in our building. We had originally clearly listed it as one of the jobs of our contractor, but he had never hired anyone to do the work. After looking over his subcontracts we realized his neglect on this front and have been trying to chase up qualified individuals to finish this task for us. Without the fireproof paint we will never be able to have the fire department approve our building for use. Two companies are finalising their quotes for us so we should be able to start this long overdue task soon - once completed we will finally be able to say that the entire factory is complete inside and out.

We have asked you to remember our needs in terms of applying for our QS food production license and holding a test run of our equipment. We are pleased to say that most of the pieces for that are coming together. Michael went early in the month to meet with an organic apple supplier, only to find himself attending a wholesale agricultural production expo which provided us with several contacts for buying the remaining fruit and vegetables we need. At around the same time we were a little discouraged that our planned vegetable supplier, despite assurances otherwise, is unable to grow sweet potatoes one of our key ingredients.

For all of us personally on the Eleanor’s Garden baby food team it has been an interesting month. Kim and Michael were away for a few weeks at a conference, our main local employee travelled with his family back to visit relatives, our internal construction supervisor was also gone for more than a week – leaving Sarah and Karen back at the factory very unsure of how to install the water heater, or fix the electricity. Some headway has been made on thinking through our website needs and making contact with people who can design and build that for us. It is also been a month of sickness, a motor bike accident and overall struggles to stay on the task that Father has called us all to. We are also looking for further investment capital or loans from people who are willing to financially join us in seeing His Kingdom come in this place. We continue to covet your prayers for us as there is so much that goes into getting this business started.
