The word describes believers as being part of the family of
God, which means we are called to interact with each other like family- loving
and caring for one another’s needs.
Father in His unending grace has allowed me to come and rest these last
few months in a community that knows well how to live out this calling. Living close by in the neighbourhood where I
am are several couples and families that spent years living in the same
province and called to the same people group.
They all understand first hand some of the struggles I have been going
through working full time in a hostile situation at a job that is not
necessarily allowing me to serve out of
my best contributions. Whether it is
this shared experience that bonds us together, or whether it is just the joy of
being united in Him, it is hard to say… but the community here has welcomed me
in like family. They have provide a
place to stay, driven me to doctor’s appointment and church, allowed me to join
their families for meal time and family devotion times. They have listened to me process through the
questions in my mind and proved to be wise sounding boards that have asked
similar questions in the past. They have
also provided a place to play and relax, going swimming with their families,
leaded me books that were high on their “good read” list, movie nights, and
trips to good restaurants sampling the many western food choices that just
aren’t available where I live. Knowing I
love to stitch, one friends has even patiently taken the time to teach me how
to quilt, so that I can relax and create a beautiful memory of this sweet time
of Sabbath that God has granted me surrounded by His family.
