The Joy of a Roommate

I know many of you were praying for me as I returned this time. My quiet, solo apartment already had my new roommate living there. For years, I have seen the idea of sharing my space as a means of grace that God can use in my life to continue molding me into the person He wants. There is often an adjustment period as two almost complete strangers get used to living under the same roof. In some ways, this seems even more important as this is my roommate’s first time living overseas. Praise God, this first month has gone exceptionally smoothly. We have similar interests and have naturally fallen into a pleasant house rhythm, even including making meals together. It is a joy to have someone else around the house.

Helping her settle well in this new location has also been a large part of my time since returning.

We have been shopping for furniture and curtains to help make her room feel like a homey and

welcoming place where she can rest. We have also tried desperately to register her phone within

the country’s complicated obstacle course of red tape, before she finally broke down and bought a

new phone (you can read the whole story on my blog).
