English+ Community Centre

We desire to open a safe space for Devout Russian Speaking Muslims, predominantly those from the U minority diaspora. A place where their lives can daily rub up against those of believers in Jesus both foreigners and close culturally. The community center would provide English classes as the main source of income to help make the project sustainable long term, but we will also offer programs that bring the community together in the midst of their felt needs, like mother and tot groups, senior exercises, and kids with disabilities support. A community center is a welcoming place filled with fun and laughter. It provides a place for Christians and Muslims to meet, build trust and start deeper relationships. The hope is to raise enough capital to buy our building, renovate it as needed to be wheelchair accessible for our special needs clients, purchase English textbooks/teaching materials, register our business license with the government, and pay our staff salaries until we become fully self-supporting.

The whole plan to buy a property to use as a center needs to be approved by several layers of leadership both overseas and in Canada. Field level leadership agrees, but Canadian Charitable giving laws may make property ownership a problem. We are talking with the office and asking the Lord to lead. For now, we are regularly “prayer walking” around the neighbourhood where we hope to open our center and as ask you to join us in praying from afar.
