Many of you have been standing with us in prayer
over the last few years as we worked on developing an organic baby food
business. Some of you are very
faithful in asking for updates and wanting more intentional requests based on
current business news. In answer to
your desire to participate we have decided to start a purely business related
newsletter. Our hope to monthly
(perhaps twice a month if things get really hairy on our end) send you an
update on how we are is progressing, and let you know the items we most need
prayer for. This is our first letter
and we admit to just having sent it to all of our contacts. If you would like to remain part of our
Business Newsletter mailing list please email us at: news@eleanorsbabyfood.com. Only those who respond will receive
consecutive emails. Please do not
forward these emails on to others.
Turkey – We recently attended a Business for
Transformation conference in Turkey.
This was a great opportunity for us to meet faithful business men and
women from around the world. We gave
an official pitch of our business plan, and were able to make contact with
several experts in areas that are important for our growth. We meet industrial engineers, food processor,
Marketers, accountants, and so many more.
Many of them have agreed to join our team in a consult/coaching role,
or are open to having us send them relevant questions. We thank God for allowing us to cross paths
with these individuals and ask that we would have smooth communication and
work well together.
Team- As our work load increases it is time to look
at hiring more staff to join our team.
Quality Control Standards in our country dictate that in some roles in
the factory we require personal with an applicable Associates degree who also
has at least four years of experience in food manufacturing industry. We are looking for people with a good work
ethic who are willing to own up to mistakes, take instruction well, works
hard, willing to stay at the job for an extended period of time and is
general a fun, laid back easy to be with person.
Factory construction – We have leased land for 50
years in the brand new Economic development zone. This gives us discounts on utilities and taxes. Being the first foreign owned business to
build in the zone, we have gained a level of prestige and relationship with
the local officials. Factory
construction is started. The
foundation is in and pillars are in place.
We are thankful for the group of man that are working away on the site.
Recipe Development – After personally tasting and
eating over 100 different recipes of baby food we finally have our top six
flavours. All of them contain some
special fruit or vegetable that is famous in our province. We have been
reading up on how to conduct taste test and looking for local families to
participate and give us feedback.
Pouches/logo – We have nationwide design company
working on designing our logo for us.
They have sent us several sample that we critiqued and tweaked.
Getting experience-One thing our consultants all
commented on was the lack of actual food processing experience that we
have. We have been trying to rectify
this by finding factories were our production manager can go and actually
shadow their production team for a few weeks.
We had several place in mind, but for a variety of reason they don’t
seem viable. Please be asking that Gd
will lead us to factories that will be open to teaching us local quality
standard implementation.
Produce – We have found a local green house facility
that already has their organic certification.
We have been in contact with them about the specific vegetables we
will need, and are working on contracting with them for delivery. We still hope to work with individual farmers
and help them get organic certification, but for this start-up phase we are
thankful that there is a suitable grower close by.
Thank you for your care and participation in this
business. We promise that subsequent letters will not be as long.
