EGBF May Update

We have so much to be thankful for this month!!  We are very grateful for the completion of some tasks that we have been working on for a long time.  And we are equally as thankful that we have seen progress on some other steps that may yet require some time to complete.  

The biggest breakthrough is that we officially have our QS (Quality Standard) food production license, one of the most important and most difficult permits we need in order to produce baby food!  You have seen this request in our newsletter for over a year now, and we are amazed at how the Father brought it together. We are choosing to pause and celebrate this massive milestone even while looking at what seems the mountain lying ahead. Our trademarks have also been approved, which is not a small step.  We have signed quite a few contracts with local fruit and vegetable suppliers and will continue working to sign agreements for all of our needed raw ingredients in the very near future.  The design of our pouches is still being worked on, but we are getting closer to the final product.  And we have obtained our construction completion permit which allows us to continue pursuing getting the deed for the factory land.   

This next month we hope to make a batch of each of our final recipes, which will mean some significant time at the factory tweaking and producing a final product that is just like what we plan to sell.  After a couple of months of focusing on other important tasks, it is exciting to be thinking about spending more time at the factory with our local employees.  We also need to begin working on getting our organic certification once we have our contracts with all of our suppliers.  This is an important piece of our business that we hope to complete in a timely manner so that from the beginning of production we are able to provide a high quality, certified organic product.  In addition, a continued focus on marketing is something that we feel is extremely important during this season.

Due to the many unforeseen delays in getting to full production, it has also become necessary for us to look into some options for getting an additional 200,000 USD.  The current and ongoing costs of raw materials and salaries make it necessary to find some working capital until we reach the break even point.  One option we are pursuing is that of a local loan secured against the land and buildings, but we need wisdom to know if this is the correct path and if not where we should be looking.  We trust and believe that EGBF is ultimately not our business and that every need will be provided for!
